On indefinite hiatus, with so much gratitude

Bryn and Mommy at CRF

I haven't posted much here because the summer seemed like a roller coaster - from incredible highs like being able to go out without a mask to the worst lows like Bryn's pneumonia, Ciaragh's surgery for a burst cyst, and on and on and on.

But we persisted, my furry threesome, my husband and I...and continue on for however long the five of us will be a family. We are taking each day with our 9.5-year-old with gratitude. We are working toward Ciaragh making a return to being a Rennie hound. We are following orders from our Combat Wombat, Col. Willow-Pickle

Thanks to everyone that has loved our Bryndled Beastie and her packmates. I want to leave you with a memory that just came up for me on social media, a vision of how I will always remember my time doing faires with my Best Rennie Hound, Bryn:

Possible best moment yesterday - a couple came into the barn to meet Bryn and I could see tears already in her eyes as she asked Bryn's name. She said that it had been three years since she lost her boy and she just missed him so, like it it was only yesterday that he died at the age of 9.  The more she petted Bryn the more tears rolled down her cheeks and I finally said that I felt like I should hug her - if she was a hugger. She was and we did and she whispered "Thank you."

Our world is so big and fast and loud and bright that we go through the motions a lot of the time. This is true of me at faire - her name, breed, and age just roll off my tongue with barely any thought. I tell the same jokes about the breed hunting wolves, stag, and the English. I keep my fingers wound into her fur to let her know I'm there and she and I just make it through.

But that bit of interaction with a stranger - who wasn't a stranger, she was Wolfhound Strong even though it was breaking her heart - broke me a little, and not just because I was apparently headed for a migraine. And it broke me in the best way, and it makes all the biting wind and ill mannered children worth it. I hope seeing Bryn and Barley helped her heart a little bit, because it helped mine a lot.

Another hiatus

We are going to just pile up here and wait, in the AC, for Mommy to get back to blogging.

Sunday, 1 July 2018

Seriously...

I keep thinking if I look out the window some new blog content might come along.
So far, though, nada.

If it's all right with you...

We are just going to skip August and most of September. Mommy will pick back up with the posts when we start the Carolina Renaissance Festival in October, okay? Try not to OD on pumpkin spice or get blinded by the Eclipse. Love, Bryn

On Hiatus

Again... This time, due to RID National Conference in New Orleans.
Check back here soon...if Bryn's Mommy hasn't OD'd on Green Voting Cards, that is...

So I think hiatus no longer covers it...

LOOK!

I'm so upset over how my Mommy has neglected my blog that my ears fell off.

Okay, not really.  But I am a bit upset.  Sadly I don't have thumbs...or fingers...and I can't really spell, so I wouldn't have much luck updating it on my own.

For your trouble, and the dire concern I'm sure was raised in your heart at my absence from your computer screens, I'm making Mommy post extra things in THIS post in the hopes that she will learn her lesson and keep this blog up to date.

I don't hold out much hope that it will work, but you never know.

Please enjoy these scenes from the past few months:

I ate NEITHER the tree nor the tree skirt that Mommy put on me like I was going to get my hair done in 1955.  I was sorely tempted on both fronts, however... especially after this picture was taken.

What I did instead was spin around and around because that stupid skirt kept following me and I couldn't shake it.  You would think it would have gotten dizzy at some point, but nope.

Mommy put it on Daisy too, but she made me promise not to let Mommy put THAT picture in the blog or she would tell Mommy and Daddy about all the times that I have snuck into their room and...

Wait, nothing to see here, moving on.  Christmas!  Christmas!  Look down there...

We had some visitors for Christmas.  As you can see, we all tried our hypnotic eye powers on Mommy but NONE of us got any of her food.

Now at some point last year Daisy got to go to the vet but came back short one tooth, and sometimes I
think she gets sad about that.  It could also be the numerous Elvis jokes that Mommy makes now, but I'm not sure. To be honest, I don't know who Elvis is.

This picture was taken by my Auntie Laze and Mommy loves it because she says she always takes "Walking Away Pictures" with her hounds.  Whatever.

That day was awesome, we went hiking and I got to smell lots of new smells and see different dogs and my "Michigan Aunties" went with us.  Only thing that might have made it better is if Millie could have gone...

Durango and Sydney came with my Michigan Aunties.  Have you ever tried to keep pace with another dog that is 1/100th your size?

It snowed some this year but not as much as last year.  There was nothing really for me to play in, and by play in, I mean eat.

Seriously.  Keep your Ben and Jerry's.  I'll take fresh snow out of my backyard, please.  Good stuff.

I did a lot of this from January to now. Only sometimes I was lying down while watching the Squirrels on the deck.  I need to make a note to teach Mommy how to say that word properly.

Only Daddy says it the right way.

The marvelous creature under my torso here is Duke...I don't know what it is about him but...I love him.

I'm a little concerned that he doesn't feel the same way, though.

Not sure what makes me worry, exactly...

So that's what's been up with me for a few months.  A lot of sleeping and general destruction.  Stuffies have been destuffed, tennis balls have been broken in half.  You know, the usual.  I promise to keep Mommy on track.  And with that...on to the next!  I've got an episode of The Following to watch while she works.

Cheers!

Going on a Heat Strike

I don't know what Broken AC means, but it is so hot and muggy in this house that my fur is frizzing.  More Daily Bryn when it is cool enough to pose for pictures again...I think we are going on an ADVENTURE for my BIRTHDAY on Monday, but I don't know what that means either.

Another Hiatus...

I don't really have a good excuse except that I'm trying to get the house ready for guests and get myself ready for a reading/book signing trip to Sandy Paws with the Colossal Muppet herself (and Daisy, natch).  So, um, enjoy the tiger paw I found on the ground at ICAR today.  Yeah.  Be back very soon.

The Daily Bryn...on a bit of hiatus...

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of the bus that Bryn's Mommy takes to and from work.  Or don't, whatever man.  We're not bothered.  Back soon...
